Forward your Public Mobile line to a real business number

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Public Mobile is a Telus prepaid brand and rides the Telus network. Plans are prepaid-only — no postpaid contract — and support is community-driven through the Public Mobile forum rather than a traditional call centre. The GSM codes below are the same Telus uses; the practical difference is that every forwarded call deducts from your prepaid balance.

The codes that work on Public Mobile mobile

These are 3GPP GSM short codes — dial them like a phone number from your Public Mobile line. Replace PHONE with your destination, in full E.164 form (e.g., +15875551234).

**21*PHONE#Activate immediate forwarding (all calls)
##21#Cancel immediate forwarding
*#21#Check forwarding status

Conditional forwarding only catches calls in specific cases — usually what you want if you’re keeping your line for personal calls and only want missed business calls to reach your Callkeep number.

**61*PHONE#Forward when you don't answer
**67*PHONE#Forward when you're on another call
**62*PHONE#Forward when your phone is off or out of range
##002#Cancel all conditional forwarding at once

Or use the Public Mobile Self-Serve app

If you’d rather not memorize codes, the Public Mobile Self-Serve app exposes the same toggles on Web, iOS, Android:

Self-Serve → My Account → Settings → Call forwarding

Pricing and airtime

Public Mobile is prepaid-only, which means the forwarded leg always uses your account balance — there is no postpaid 'included' path. Plan price determines minute rates, but typical per-minute domestic charges apply to the forward leg. If your business takes a lot of forwarded calls, the math may favour using the Callkeep number as the line you publish (so customers dial Callkeep directly) rather than forwarding from Public Mobile.

Things to watch for

  • Because Public Mobile is prepaid, an empty balance breaks forwarding. The carrier-side toggle stays set, but the forwarded leg fails until the balance is topped up.
  • Public Mobile doesn't run a traditional call centre — issue troubleshooting goes through the community forum and Self-Serve tickets. If forwarding misbehaves, the forum search usually has a thread.
  • All current Public Mobile plans (Basic, Premium, Combo) support forwarding equally — no tier locks the feature.
